Finding oneself has become a life purpose in today’s world. However, the process can feel confusing and we can feel lost as we struggle to navigate between who we are, what we want to be, and others’ expectations of us.
Before this transition in my life to join the mental health profession, I held a senior position in the commercial sector at a global bank. My previous career has provided me with the exposure and opportunity to work with people from around the world (Asia, Europe, and America), which makes me comfortable working with people from different backgrounds, cultures, spiritual beliefs, and even socioeconomic statuses.
I have held many different roles in life. While I was busy with a full-time career as a banker, I was also a mother to two young children, a wife, a daughter, a sister, a line manager and a subordinate. Life events have led me to think deeply about the meaning of life. As a result, I left my corporate career in 2019 to embark on this journey to become a counsellor, to gain a deeper understanding of myself and to strengthen my relationships with those I love. And now, I have the privilege to be able to journey alongside clients as well.
My children are now young adults, and I am in my 50s. I spent my childhood years growing up in Singapore, then completed my Bachelor of Business Studies at Massey University (New Zealand) prior to my 22 years of career in banking (specifically Hong Leong and HSBC). I have completed my Masters in Counselling (HELP University), two years of clinical internship including 21 months at Rekindle Academy. I am trained in trauma therapy (Brainspotting Phase I & II), and Focusing Oriented Therapy (Year One), a modality that helps clients go deeper into self-awareness.
I believe that we have options in life, but options frequently come bundled in a package. Making choices may require us to open the packaging and discover what is truly important to us - what to keep, and what to let go. I would be honoured to journey with you in search of what is essential to you, that contributes to making the best choices so that you can live your fullest life in every stage.
A little more about me: I am a regular yoga practitioner and a deep believer in mindfulness practices as a way to connect within. I also love gardening.
